Oliver Bancroft l Last Updated: August 27, 2026
Choosing a pharmacy involves more than simply looking at star ratings. For this Birmingham guide, we considered several factors to identify pharmacies that offer useful, accessible and relevant healthcare services.
Our selection factors included:
Range of Pharmacy Services — The availability of NHS prescriptions, Pharmacy First services, vaccinations, health checks and other pharmacy-led services.
Professional Expertise — Evidence of qualified pharmacists and appropriate professional standards.
Healthcare Services — Additional services such as travel vaccinations, blood pressure checks, smoking cessation, weight management and contraception.
Accessibility & Opening Hours — Location, weekday and weekend availability, and extended opening hours where offered.
Prescription Support — Prescription collection, delivery, repeat prescription support and other dispensing services.
Patient Experience — Publicly available ratings, review volume and feedback where reliable information was available.
Reputation & Local Presence — The pharmacy's established presence in Birmingham and the quality of publicly available information.
Birmingham has a large network of community pharmacies, ranging from traditional prescription-dispensing pharmacies to modern providers offering a broader selection of pharmacist-led healthcare services. This gives residents more choice when looking for convenient support close to home.
The right pharmacy can be particularly useful for more than simply collecting a prescription. Depending on the provider, patients may be able to access services such as Pharmacy First consultations, vaccinations, blood pressure checks, travel health advice, smoking cessation support and other healthcare services without necessarily needing a GP appointment.
The pharmacies featured in this guide were selected using a combination of reputation, review information, service range, accessibility and the quality of publicly available information. We have not ranked them solely by their Google rating or review count.
Some pharmacies may be better suited to people who value extended opening hours, while others offer a broader range of specialist healthcare services. Patients should check directly with the pharmacy to confirm whether a particular service is available and whether an appointment is required.
This guide is intended for Birmingham residents looking to compare local pharmacies for prescriptions, everyday healthcare support and additional pharmacy-led services.
Please note: This guide is for general information and comparison purposes. Being included on this list does not constitute a recommendation or guarantee of a particular outcome.

She is such a lovely, kind, and compassionate woman—kindness truly oozes from her. It's rare to come across such genuine care these days. Aisha is excellent at piercings! I had my lower ear, helix, and nose pierced all in one session, and honestly, there was hardly any pain. Each piercing just felt like a quick pinch, and the whole process was smooth and professional. Everything was thoroughly sterilised, and Aisha made me feel comfortable throughout. I would definitely recommend her to anyone thinking about getting a piercing!

Amazing experience from start to finish. I had both my ears and my daughter’s ears pierced. Sonia was so kind, patient and professional. Everything was explained clearly, including the aftercare, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. I highly recommend them to anyone, especially for children’s ear piercings. Thank you for such a lovely experience!

As an elderly homebound medical doctor with over 30 years of clinical experience in several countries, I have found that Hyatt Pharmacy in Birmingham provides the best service of any pharmacy I have ever worked with in England. They are kind, helpful, and sensitive, but most importantly, they are involved with their clients' prescriptions and refills and become familiar with them quickly. They are supportive and provide on-time service with a kind and helpful attitude. I highly recommend this pharmacy as the best in Birmingham, if not in the UK. Thank you all for your kindness.

I moved to Birmingham a couple of months ago and had no tablets for high blood pressure. They were so patient while I was on the phone trying to get NHS prescribe me tablets. Unfortunately I didn't get them even after a nice lady from the pharmacy spoke to them but I would still like to thank her as it was stressful and I needed the tablets urgently and was on a Mary go round because of NHS. There are very rude people out there in Boots so I will use this pharmacy in the future even though it's not the closest to my place.
