Best Opticians in Birmingham

How We Selected the Best Opticians in Birmingham?

Choosing an optician involves more than simply looking at star ratings. For this Birmingham guide, we considered several factors to identify opticians that offer useful, accessible and relevant eye-care services.

Our selection factors included:

Specialist Eye-Care Services — The availability of eye examinations, contact lens services, children's eye care, specialist assessments and other relevant optical services.

Professional Expertise — Evidence of qualified optometrists, experienced optical professionals and appropriate professional standards.

Range of Services — The variety of eye-care, prescription eyewear, contact lens and specialist optical services available.

Accessibility & Opening Hours — Location, weekday and weekend availability, appointment options and opening hours where publicly available.

Eyewear & Prescription Support — Availability of prescription glasses, designer frames, specialist lenses, contact lenses, repairs and related optical services.

Patient Experience — Publicly available ratings, review volume, customer feedback and reputation where reliable information was available.

Reputation & Local Presence — The provider's established presence in Birmingham and the quality of publicly available information.

Birmingham has a wide choice of opticians, ranging from established independent practices to specialist eyewear providers offering a broader selection of eye-care and optical services. This gives residents plenty of options when looking for convenient eye care and prescription eyewear.

The right optician can be particularly useful for more than simply getting a new pair of glasses. Depending on the provider, customers may be able to access eye examinations, contact lens fitting, specialist prescription support, children's eyewear, designer frames and other optical services.

The opticians featured in this guide were selected using a combination of reputation, review information, service range, accessibility and the quality of publicly available information. We have not ranked them solely by their Google rating or review count.

Some opticians may be better suited to people who value specialist or independent eyewear, while others may be more suitable for customers looking for NHS sight tests, contact lenses or convenient local access. Customers should check with the provider directly to confirm which services are currently available and whether an appointment is required.

This guide is intended for Birmingham residents looking to compare opticians for eye examinations, prescription eyewear, contact lenses and other optical services.

Please note: This guide is for general information and comparison purposes. Being included on this list does not constitute a recommendation or guarantee of a particular outcome.

Top marks on the customer service front, the glasses sell themselves really!! I absolutely love them. I have so many compliments on my Occupational glasses (as they match my uniform!!) I love that I don't have to swap to sunglasses anymore! Yes you pay the extra but your eyes are worth it 👀.

Scott allows you the time and freedom to find the glasses that match your personality as you can see mine match my hair! He listens and gets to know you which you certainly don't get in big cooperate business's. So what are you waiting for.......... He will certainly have a pair of glasses for you 😀 🤓🥸😎🕶

Mine go with everything!!!!

Having had a difficult time with high street opticians due to poor fitting frames and wrong prescriptions, I decided to try J Hyde. I was not disappointed.

The eye test was more thorough and in depth than any other I'd had.

They then take a more personalised approach to style you with frames that meet your preferences, fit you properly and suit your face.

Brilliant care and advice and a very professional service.

Highly recommend.

Recently I happened across Conways. I walked in to be greeted in a most pleasant manner.

I asked a few questions and found the staff to be friendly and very knowledgeable. With that it was suggested I have a free eyesight consultation with their specialist. Ultra modern equipment and very accurate. They also checked for any issues with the eyes medically.

Result being an excellent service from start to finish, no pressure selling, only good advice.

Highly recommended.
